Kalymnos
The Greek island Kalymnos belongs to the Dodecanesos, the group of islands to which Rhodes and Kos also belong. The island is well known because of sponge divers but is also very popular with climbers.

At first sight this beautiful island with its bare mountains looks somewhat mysterious. However once you arrive by boat in the idyllic harbour town of Pothia with pastel coloured seafront, you can already taste the atmosphere of Kalymnos. Around the harbour you can sit down at one of the many sidewalk cafes and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the sponge sellers and the fishing boats sailing into port. Apart from diving for sponges, the island is also well known for it’s hospitality and it’s breathtaking natural beauty. Bare mountains form a fascinating contrast with the green and fertile valleys and the beautiful sandy, pebble beaches along the coast. Kalymnos (luckily) has so far escaped mass tourism, so don’t expect loud music from disco’s etc but peace and quiet, privacy and friendly locals, with numerous sidewalk cafes and restaurants and a supermarket close by. The bungalow is situated approximately 10 minutes by foot from the beach (Plati Gialos)
